Australian's have more awareness of the Covid-19 Pandemic than Indonesian's, fact or rumor?

In Melbourne

SPEAKUP - A few months ago I had spent almost 3 months in the land of Kangaroo’s or Australia. However, entering the end of February, the corona virus outbreak has infected a number of countries including Australia. The Australian Government has made many efforts to minimize the spread of the virus that attacks the respiratory system or lungs.

The policies taken by the Australian government include closing restaurants, shopping centers, tourist attractions and several other places. Adding travel bans and tightening the requirements for entering Australia. The government acted quickly at the beginning of the pandemic announcement, and residents were only allowed to leave the house when they wanted to shop for food, visit the doctor and were even fined by the police for breaching the rules. Quite a tense and strict statement made by the Australian government.

However, the Australian government is fully responsible for its citizens by compensating those who have to be laid off, also providing relief costs such as funding to employers, and even giving benefits to each citizen.

The first time I felt a pandemic situation in a land of people made me think, a pandemic is a world disaster that is able to change the order of life in the world. And I respect the strict local government, transparency, responsiveness and responsibility when handling pandemic situations.

Perhaps because of the openness of information related to the corona virus and also the firm and responsive attitude of the government makes Australians more aware of this disaster. Not many people travel, even the airport looks lonely. doing social distancing anywhere, and even when panic buying they never hoard until raising prices.

It was different when I returned to Indonesia. When I entered Ngurah Rai Airport, it might not be too crowded, but when I entered the domestic flight, I was surprised because the Citylink plane that I was riding was full seat. There is no social distancing and no health protocol. Arriving at Juanda Airport also remained the same, there was no change. There are still many brokers who are aggressive in looking for passengers and many do not wear masks.

When the world is in turmoil with the corona virus and many countries are lockdown, Indonesia is still calm down. The government is still discussing and discussing about choosing lockdown or not.

Here we still know, how the pandemic situation in Australia and Indonesia differ. In your opinion, more aware of which Australia or Indonesia ??
